Depending on the layout you use, reading the cards can mean different things. Some layouts work better for others. I personally like to use the Celtic Cross Spread, but others might think otherwise.
The following posts will give different layouts.

Basic  Shuffle the cards and separate the deck into 3 piles, like shown. The first pile represents the past, the second the present, and the third the future. Flip over the first card in each pile and read as shown. |

12 Month Spread  Shuffle the cards and start placing one card in a row for each month like shown. Keep going through this cycle until you have no cards left. This will leave about 7 cards on the first six months and 6 cards for the last six months. Flip over the first card of each pile and read for each month. |
