well I'm actually quite ignorant when it comes to this stuff so a couple questions...
can I get some general information bout this- how do you find them? is it through the astral realm?

There are two things. Firstly, you main one/ones find you. I've got a female 20-something ish girl named Kelcie as my main one.
Other ones, though, you can procure through other means. I wear jewelry with spirits attached to them. Three rings, one on my right (negative, a moon goddess, possibly Hecate. Met her in a graveyard on Samhain when she gave me...well a 'blowjob'. >_>), two on my left(positive), one which has a just, good, goddess of light in it (and a water spirit) and antother on my right that has my love for a girl in it, and it beats like a heart.
I wear a necklace or two. One is my base, and I wear it 24 seven. It's a hex, a protection one, with celtic knots in it. It has three things attached to it. A spider spirit, a hellhound ( I received from my shaman freind who got it from my druid freind) and in it I'm attached to the girl I love, adore, and am devoted to. She has a heart pendant she wears 24/7, and her and I linked them up with the help of my shaman freind and a native american ritual. I feel her feelings, she feels mine, I make her whole, she makes me whole, and I protect her, and she protects me, though she isn't of the mage/spiritual path...yet. >_>
