The most sacred and valuable tool to a witch is his / her Book Of Shadows. A Book Of Shadows is a collection of all his / her learnings, spells and rituals, so on and so forth. A Book of Shadows may be a 3-ring Binder.... or a real custom made Book Of Shadows. Below is a list of things that are most kept in a BoS (Book of Shadows).
The Wiccan Rede
Include a copy of the Rede (there are two versions of the Rede. Try to get the FULL version). You also may want to "dissect" the rede for a better understanding of it. In which may also help you along in your practices.
The Sabbats
Have a copy of the eight(8) major Sabbats. Include information, and activites on each Sabbat, for a better understanding of them.
An Almanac Calendar
A calendar of all the moon phases, progressions, and astrological signs that are in each day. Mark New Moons and Full Moons. Also include important events and the Sabbats.
Magickal Correspondences
A list of what each God and Goddess represents.
Herbal Guide
A list of the herbs in Magick.
Color Correspondences
A list of the symbolism of different candle colors.
Insence Guide
A list of the significance of the different scented incences.
Spells & Rituals
Have a section of spells and rituals in which you may find practical and useful. And in which you may be able to use for future occasions.
Chants & Poems
Chants or Prayers you find nice are a good idea for your BoS. Also, personal poetry and your own hand written chants would be a exceptional addition to your collection.
Daily Journal
A daily journal would be a great idea. Record important events and occurences.
Dream Journal
A dream journal is an astounding idea. Recording and analying your dreams can help you become in-touch with your "Third Eye" - and it's fun too.
Insights
Your path to learning can help you more in the future if you are able to look back on it. Ask yourself questions, and write the responses in a section of personal insights. As opposed to a Daily Journal, this will not record actual events, but instead, will help you to reflect on theories and thoughts. Think about how you began on this path, reconsider your ways of life, think about the wonders of reality, write a little on what Wicca means to you and how it's changed your outlook on life. Anything goes. And you can always return to a previous insight, and add what new views you've stumbled upon.
Don't forget to write the time & date on each and every entry.
Remember, don't just stick a bunch of B.S. into your BoS. Only include what you consider to be of importance, and always make your own alterations. If you put a ritual in there, write side-notes on what you decided to change to suit your purpose. If you put an inspirational article in there, add your own thoughts and idea's in the margins.
